The 2021 Juffer-Sonnenuhr Beerenauslese exhibits a concentrated, darker botrytis tone with orange and lemon zest aromas, whereas stewed apricot notes are only associated in the first moments. Rich and viscous on the palate, this is a very intense and concentrated yet highly refined and almost weightless Beeranauslese from one of the greatest sites in the Mosel Valley. Tasted at the domaine in July 2022.

The 2017 Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Riesling Beerenauslese is deep, clear, fresh and perfectly ripe on the concentrated, crunchy-flinty nose with its concentrated aromas of stewed peaches, pineapples and tropical fruit intertwined with very fine notes of crushed slate and fermented pepper. Dense, lush and highly finessed on the rich, concentrated yet still pure, mineral, vital and salty-piquant palate, this is one of the most light-footed, stimulating and mouthwatering BAs you can imagine. The sweetness comes on wings here, and the wings are made of slate—slate from the Juffer Sonnenuhr, one of the greatest terroirs along Mosel, Saar and Ruwer. This is an eternal BA from a great vintage, and I can hardly imagine a finer one from here. Drinking the 2017 Juffer Sonnenuhr BA should be a moment of glory. I had it in March and April 2019.

The 2016 Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Riesling Beerenauslese is not the positive selection of the Auslese LGK but an own selection that was picked grain per grain through the harvest and is based on almost entirely dry raisins. Terribly fresh and piquant, with grapefruit and green tea aromas on the nose, this is an opulent and intense, very fine and spicy but sweet and refined BA with a lush, stimulatingly piquant finish. There are lemon and lime flavors in the long, powerful aftertaste. This is a fascinatingly delicate BA and one of the very best I have tasted so far from this vintage. Tasted March 2018.

The 2015 Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Riesling Beerenauslese is lovely clear, fresh and aromatic on the nose, with smoky citrus, grapefruit and stone fruit flavors. Sweet, lush and generous on the palate, this is a mouth-watering, lovely, clear and highly elegant BA with a ripe and perfectly integrated acidity. This is gorgeous!

Noble, slate-like and fresh on the nose the floral/herbal-scented 2013 Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Riesling Beerenauslese is rich and sweet but still finesse-filled and elegant and finishes with a nice salinity. It should be stored for another 20 years at least.
