The 2006 Felix Martinez Cepas Viejas Reserva is an intriguing blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, and the white grape Albillo that spent 24 months in French and American oak. Deep purple in color, it offers up an expressive perfume of sandalwood, Asian spices, incense, floral notes, and blackberry. In the glass it offers up layered, spicy black fruits as well as plenty of ripe tannin. The wine seems balanced but will require several years of cellaring to lose some of the tannin and achieve harmony. However, at the asking price it is a reasonable gamble. It should be at its best from 2015 to 2021. Importer: Ole Imports, New Rochelle, NY; www.oleimports.com
