The flagship 2008 Catalina is composed of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Carmenere, and 7% Cabernet Franc aged 14 months in new French oak. The fruit was sourced from low yields of only 1.6 tons per acre. Notions of pain grille, pencil lead, exotic spices, incense, black currant, and blackberry set the stage for a structured, plush, nicely proportioned Blend that will benefit from an additional 2-3 years of cellaring. It has a drinking window extending from 2014 to 2023. Santa Ema has been a reliable source of value priced wines for a number of years.
