The 2009 Wine Obsession is roughly equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. As good as this is, I don’t find the pedigree of the estate’s best wines here. The estate’s 2008 Wine Obsession is marked by green, herbal aromas and flavors and equally unpolished contours. I don’t see bottle age doing much to soften this rustic red. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. Judging by these wines Vignamaggio seems to have had a challenging time of it in 2008, which is quite understandable. The 2007 Wine Obsession offers up dark, opulent blackberry and blueberry jam, cinnamon, cloves and new leather.
