An exciting melange of dark berries, smoke, incense, tobacco, leather and grilled herbs bursts from the glass in the 2006 Marchese di Villamarina. The 2006 shows marvelous density and richness all the way through to the huge, imposing finish. The Marchese di Villamarina is one of the most interesting wines from Sardinia I tasted this year. A dense finish packed with licorice, tobacco, mint and cedar rounds things out in style. This is yet another great showing from Sella e Mosca. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2026.
I always look forward to tasting the wines of Selle e Mosca, one of Sardinia’s most historic properties. These wines deliver terrific quality and tons of pure value.
