The 2020 Riesling Feinherb Gelblack offers a clear, ripe and concentrated Riesling nose with the typical Johannisberg spiciness and bright elegance. Fine and filigreed on the palate, this is a round and balanced, very elegant Riesling whose residual sugar is perfectly integrated and keeps the fruity wine in good balance. No palatable sweetness here. 12.5% alcohol. Tasted at Schloss Gobelsburg in July 2021.

The 2019 Schloss Johannisberger Riesling Feinherb Gelblack is a well-balanced and elegant Riesling in the off-dry style. The Feinherb shows more finesse and buoyancy than its Trocken counterpart this year, and you can even enjoy it as a dry wine, with its charming fruit, playful acidity and lingering mineral grip. Tasted in June 2020.

The 2017 Schloss Johannisberger Riesling Feinherb Gelblack is pure and delicate on the clear, bright and slightly flinty/quartzite nose. The attack is racy-piquant, but the mid-palate is lush, juicy and well-structured, leading to a salty-piquant and linear finish with a charming touch of sweetness or roundness. This is what many expect from a Rheingau classic. The finish is salty-piquant and reveals nice grip.

The 2016 Rheingau Riesling Schloss Johannisberger "Gelblack" –?Feinherb – is based on the same quality like the dry version but was bottled with 12.5% alcohol plus 13.7 grams per liter of residual sugar. The bouquet is a bit more light, fresh and delicate yet not more precise. The wine is round, lush and elegant on the palate, more finessed and balanced than its dry counterpart. The finish shows nice mineral grip. A very good entrée into the 2016 Johannisbergs.
