The wise and experienced Gentaz was in agreement with my observation that 1991 was consistently better for Cote Rotie than 1990. Since bottling, the 1990 appears to have put on weight. It is not as rich as the 1991, and by the standards of Gentaz, it is less interesting than his 1982, 1983, 1985, and 1988. However, it is a charming, medium-weight Cote Rotie with a terrific fragrance, as well as a lovely, fat, luscious personality. Already drinkable, it should evolve rapidly, so I would recommend drinking it over the next 6-8 years. Gentaz feels it is reminiscent of the 1982, although not as full-bodied and concentrated.
