The 2015 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has quite a generous bouquet with scents of lime cordial, tropical fruit (mango and pineapple) with a light yeastiness, or perhaps patisserie element that becomes more pronounced with aeration. The palate is balanced with a crisp line of acidity, moderate depth of fruit with notes of citrus peel and a touch of passion fruit, though it probably lacks a little nervosité towards the finish. Not bad, tough I have a preference for the 2014.

The 2014 Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru has a very respectable, quite complex nose -- one of the best I encountered during my time in Burgundy. The palate is vibrant and tensile with good mineralité, plenty of body with nicely integrated oak towards the finish. This is an excellent wine from Blair Pethel and is worth hunting down.

Medium wood influence still easily allows the green apple, spice, floral and wet stone aromas to be appreciated. There is a good deal more volume and intensity to the tautly muscular broad-shouldered flavors that possess solid power and richness before culminating in a long, serious and built-to-age finale. This moderately robust effort should be capable of repaying up to a decade of bottle age.

The 2013 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a lively and expressive bouquet with lifted apple blossom and grapefruit scents intermingled with mineral scents that frankly put Blair's other white 2013s in the shade. The palate is crisp and taut on the entry with touches of white peach and nectarine notes on the harmonious and poised finish. Unfortunately, Blair lost 80% of the crop, equivalent to just two barrels.

All but invisible wood surrounds the notes of mineral reduction, green apple, petrol and background floral nuances. There is fine volume and excellent mid-palate concentration to the seductively textured, suave and utterly delicious middle weight plus flavors that exhibit plenty of mineral character on the clean and dry finish. Note that this will need to add depth which my range predicts that it will do with a few years of bottle age.
