The 2007 Negroamaro possesses attractive varietal notes of dark fruit, leather, spices, tar, with notable inner perfume. It is a pretty red that captures the essence of this quirky Apulian variety. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2010.The deteriorating US dollar prompted importer Leonardo LoCascio to create Terre, his proprietary label of budget-friendly wines focused on the indigenous varieties of Southern Italy. The wines are made by local partner wineries, and the lots are selected by LoCascio and consulting oenologist Alberto Antonini. Today, the best of the wines are the Apulian Primitivo and Negroamaro.A Leonardo Lo Cascio Selection, Winebow, Montvale, NJ; tel. (201) 445-0620
