The 2008 1780 is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% each of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Merlot and the balance 5% Syrah, aged in new French oak barrels for 24 months. That might sound a little excessive, but it seems as though the fruit has the stuffing to absorb the wood, and the wine seems quite balanced and integrated, if slightly international, pleasant and well-crafted, a little warm toward the finish.
