One of the iconic bottles of this estate, the Cantina Tramin 2020 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Nussbaumer shows a ripe fruit character with sweet acacia and ginestra followed by passion fruit and lychee. Aged 10 months in stainless steel, there is an exotic quality with a rich, full-bodied texture that wraps thickly over the palate. We are starting to see high alcohol levels from this part of Italy, and this wine clocks in at 15%. The finish is on the heavy and creamy side. Some 70,000 bottles were made.

Pouring from the bottle with a mildly saturated golden hue, the Cantina Tramin 2019 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Nussbaumer is an almost full-bodied expression. The wine carries extra fruit weight that appears smooth and rich to the palate. It also offers elaborate aromas of fragrant summer flower and peach blossom. There is some heaviness on the finish, but it is washed away by the wine's significant persistence and freshness. This would be great with a butternut squash ravioli. About 65,000 bottles were made.

Tramin is a village in Alto Adige that is closely linked to the production of Gewürztraminer; in fact, Tramin is considered the best microclimate for the variety. The Cantina Tramin 2018 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Nussbaumer makes excellence use of its home court advantage, showing those silky or glossy aromas that distinguish this fragrant grape. The bouquet opens to beeswax, white rose, star jasmine and licorice root. There is a spicy element to the bouquet with lingering notes of nutmeg, saffron and clove. The strong mineral imprint of the dolomitic soil is also reflected here with crushed stone and chalk. Production is an ample 75,000 bottles.

The 2017 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Nussbaumer is beautifully fragrant and redolent of honeysuckle and tropical fruit. The honey-like intensity is incredible. This medium-weight white shows a distant trace of residual sugar. It would make a nice pairing with rice pudding and raisins. An ample 65,000 bottles were made.

Closed with a glass cork, the 2016 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Nussbaumer is floral and fragrant with abundant layers of white rose, honeysuckle and orange blossom. If you love this variety, you are going to appreciate the clean lines and snappy style evidenced by this wine from the far north of Italy. Spicy notes of nutmeg and clove appear as distant accents on the close. The 15% alcohol fuels a long finish. The Tramin subzone of the appellation is home to some of the best Gewürztraminer in Alto Adige. Some 70,000 bottles were made.
