The glories of the 2006 vintage are on full display here. Allegrini’s 2006 Villa Giona flows with gorgeous layers of dark cherries, espresso, grilled herbs, dried flowers and French oak. This racy, super-ripe red could use another year or two for some of the oak to integrate, but even today its balance and class are impossible to miss. Villa Giona is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 10% Syrah aged in new French oak barrels. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2018.
