The barrels selection called 2010 Reserva Real was very good. The nose screams Bordeaux blend (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot from slate soils, which are quite rare in Penedès) but intermixed with some aromas of pollen, beeswax, thyme and rosemary, which gives it a southern accent. The palate reveals a powerful red, with plenty of fine-grained tannins and some influence from the élevage (18 months in new French oak barrels), peppery and spicy with good acidity. Very good, except for the price, which reflects its scarcity. It should age well.
