The 2007 Real de Aragon Garnacha Centenaria contains 5% of the nearly extinct indigenous variety Miguel de Arco. It was aged for 16 months in seasoned American oak before bottling without filtration. A glass-coating opaque purple, it reveals aromas of cedar, underbrush, cigar box, and black cherry. On the palate it sports layered fruit, lots of spice notes, excellent depth, and a lengthy finish. Give it 1-2 years of additional cellaring and drink it from 2012 to 2019. Importer: Frontier Wine Imports, Dover, NJ; www.wineimport@optonline.net
