The Fontodi 1996 Pinot Nero Case Via has held up well considering that this wine has endured a quarter century. The bouquet is characterized by distinctly tertiary tones with cured meat, bresaola, teriyaki, mahogany wood, air-dried currant and crushed flowers. The tannins are soft, and the wine imparts long silkiness on the finish. I'm not sure what to assign this Pinot Nero in terms of a drinking window. If it has lasted this long, I don't see its curve flattening soon.
