While this 1993 Barbera dell'Uccellone is very good, it will never be mistaken for a great vintage of this barrique-aged Barbera. The wine's dark ruby color is accompanied by lavish quantities of toasty new oak, and plenty of sweet berry fruit on the attack, but it narrows out in the mouth. It is medium-bodied, with good acidity, and a compact finish. It should drink well for 4-5 years.
