Not to be forgotten is one of California’s finest Sauvignon Blancs. Again, production is always an issue as there are only 840 cases of the enthralling 2006 Sauvignon Blanc, which includes 4% Viognier in the blend. This seems to give this dry, crisp wine terrific aromatics. The melons, figs, and almost honeysuckle notes soar from the glass of this wine, which does not go through malolactic but is aged in a combination of French barrels and the majority in stainless steel drums. Beautiful fruit dominates this medium-bodied wine with loads of personality and complexity. Drink it over the next year or so.One of California’s and the world’s great wine estates, Araujo continues to exhibit remarkable consistency and impeccably high quality. Little seems to change other than some minor tweaking with respect to viticulture and winemaking. The team of Bart and Daphne Araujo, their talented longtime winemaker, Francoise Peschon, and the globe-trotting oenologist, Michel Rolland, are to be commended on the extraordinary elegance of these wines.Previously recommended: 2003 Altagracia (93), 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard (98), 2003 Syrah Eisele Vineyard (94).Tel.
