The 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape blanc is a 2,500-case blend of 35% Roussanne, 35% Grenache Blanc, 15% Bourboulenc, and the rest miscellaneous grapes. It offers up aromas of tropical fruit intertwined with bubble gum, passion fruit, ripe melons, and honeysuckle. The beautiful perfume is followed by a wine with admirable delineation as well as tremendous purity. Dugas believes these whites will last for a considerable period, but I prefer to drink them in their first 3-4 years of life.
